For Anjum, faith is not just a set of rituals but a dynamic expression of one’s innermost self. It serves as a lens through which she perceives the world, guiding her actions and shaping her character. Anjum interaction with faith is clearly a multifaceted experience, that encompasses personal growth, community service and deepened connection with the Divine.
Faith is as personal to Anjum as it is a public discourse – because while only God can see the depths of piety and sin, her headscarf is an open manifestation of her belief.
To this extent, Anjum’s experience of faith ties in with her expression of self. She believes that she has been given an opportunity to represent her faith in the work that she undertakes and takes the responsibility both serioulsy and creatively.
